As part of our extensive PT services, DHAC offers Aquatic Physical Therapy. Aquatic Physical Therapy sessions take place in our heated therapy pool which is 4 feet deep and offers a different approach than traditional physical therapy. Aquatic physical therapy combines traditional land based exercises with specialized exercises in a gravity minimized, less intense, muscle relaxing setting. Using tools such as resistance bands, floating dumbbells, kick-boards, and pool noodles to name a few carefully selected exercises.
Aquatic PT Goals
Our goal in aquatic physical therapy is to use the waters natural buoyancy and resistance to assist patients who cannot initially tolerate land based PT. The decreased intensity in the water will assist in increasing your strength, range of motion, flexibility and balance to allow you to seamlessly transition to our land based exercise program and or Spine Center and achieve your goals of returning to your sport, job and or prior level of function. In most cases we attempt to offer a 1-1 Aquatic and Land program for most effective Physical Therapy interventions.
The pool is able to aide in the recovery of numerous injuries and help to return you to your job, sport or daily activities. Our Aquatic Therapist individualizes programs following your initial evaluation. Aquatic PT has treated multiple diagnoses including post-concussive syndrome, neck and back issues, orthopedic issues, connective tissue disorders, and sports injuries. Our salt pure pool is equipped with a staircase and hydraulic lift as well as personal assistance when needed. Let our Aquatic Therapists help you to achieve your goals.
